It's on New Year's Eve, Chatra's birthday, that her boyfriend of ten years puts an end to things. After that, she begins throwing back drinks and letting loose. That evening's events, a gun threat, Thorn, the presence of Thai—Thorn's dependent and her best friend's son—are erased from her memory.
